About the project
NavSim Polska Sp. z o.o. is implementing the project titled “Modular PPU System for Marine Pilots – Concept PPU”, co-financed by the European Union under the European Funds for a Modern Economy 2021–2027 (FENG), SMART Pathway scheme.
What are we doing?
This project involves conducting industrial research and experimental development to design and build an innovative, miniaturised modular Portable Pilot Unit (PPU) for marine pilots. The Concept PPU will feature:
- a modern GNSS-RTK navigation system with inertial backup,
- a dynamic weight module to enhance manoeuvre safety,
- real-time data processing with embedded AI and big data analytics,
- cybersecurity components and a scalable, modular design tailored to users’ needs.
Who will benefit?
The project is aimed at marine pilots operating in medium and large seaports worldwide. Additional beneficiaries include port authorities, terminal operators, and shipowners, all of whom rely on precise and safe vessel manoeuvring.
Project goals
The project aims to enhance navigational safety and efficiency in port waters and to provide pilots with a next-generation tool combining precision, resilience, and reliability even in challenging conditions.
Expected results
The final outcome will be a fully functional prototype of the Concept PPU, ready for commercialisation. The market launch is scheduled for Q4 2028.
